How to do a Coffee Enema for Detox

Brenna May
Coffee Enema Basics
I highly recommend watching a show, reading kindle or listening to a podcast to distract yourself.  Set up a laptop that you can see or use your phone. I do 3-4 runs of holding the enema for 10 minutes so it’s nice not to be thinking about holding it in the whole time.
Prep Time 40 mins
Cook Time 20 mins

Equipment

  • I use this pyrex glass enema bucket
  • cone strainer and funnel for straining the coffee into quart jars for use or storage in the fridge for up to a week.
  • I use this trigger thermometer to make sure the coffee is at a comfortable temperature: 86 - 98 F
  • Optional silicone valve.
  • Optional additions: Quinton isotonic minerals (available in my Wellevate Dispensary) or Microbe Formulas Minerals, probiotics.
  • Clean lubricating oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil from dōTERRA or even a cooking coconut oil to cover the tube.  I don’t really need this but many people do to avoid discomfort.
  • Towel on the floor or in the bathtub.  A STRONG suction hook or other hook to hang the bucket for safety.  I use a hook and set it on the edge of my bathtub because I don’t fully trust the silicone hook.

Ingredients

  • Tangerine essential oil to help get things flowing. I like to add this to both the coffee and water rounds. You can purchase my dōTERRA Enema Essentials Kit in the post.
  • Optional additions: Quinton isotonic minerals available in my Wellevate Dispensary or Microbe Formulas Minerals, probiotics.
  • 1/4 cup Café Mam Therapeutic Grind Coffee you can make a concentrate with 1/2 cup and fill your clean stainless steel pot. I make 2 liters at a time.

Instructions

Prepare the Space:

  • Lay a towel on the bathroom floor or on the bottom of the bathtub to lay down on.
  • Hook the strap of the enema bucket up so it doesn’t tip or fall while performing the enema.
  • Portable essential oil diffuser to make the space calm.  Roam is my favorite.  I recommend Citrus Bliss for diffusing during an enema.

Blend of essential oils to spray in the loo

  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 1 tbsp alcohol (rubbing alcohol, ever clear, vodka)
  • 20-40 drops essential oils (I recommend dōTERRA OnGuard for cleaning and something nice like Citrus Bliss for making a toilet spray)
  • glass spray bottle
  • Prepare the Bucket/Hose:
  • I use OnGuard soap or OnGuard essential oils in a spray bottle to clean my bucket, and I boil water for cleaning the nozzle.  Ozone water is great but a spendy option so I stick with the dōTERRA essential oil blend as it is safe and third party lab tested for purity.
  • Rinse thoroughly after running the OnGuard through and then attach the silicone tubing and valve and cinch the valve closed with the clamp.
  • Pour in the coffee with the cinch closed and then unclip it and carefully hold the hose above the bucket and let down gradually so the coffee runs into it slowly and all the air leaves the tube.  When the coffee comes out of the tip, cinch the tube again.
  • Lie down on the towel without pants and underwear, lube the insertion point and tube, and then insert carefully.  Once you’re comfortable, unclamp the tube and let the coffee start to drain in.  Keep an eye on it that it does not stagnate or flow back into the bucket.  If you are backed up it might take some time and wiggling of the hips back and forth gently to get it to flow again.  I often do light abdominal massage to get the liquid to flow in more easily and often that is just the trick.
  • Once the bucket is emptied, start lifting the tube to get the rest of the liquid in and then close the cinch again.  Now comes the challenge!  Try to hold it in 10-15 minutes!  Some people can’t make it that far in the beginning so have grace on yourself.  If you make it 3-5 minutes it’s better than nothing and practice makes perfect!  The more you do it the easier it gets.
  • After the first round of coffee you can either refill with filtered water and a 4-6 drops of tangerine essential oil, minerals, or probiotics to help rehydrate.  You can also add these TO the coffee enema but I tend to do multiple rounds because of my parasites & biofilms to really break things up so I’ll add these after the first round.

Notes

I know it seems scary but this does so much good for cleansing and liver support, detox & parasite protocols!
