I’m a Believer, a wife and a mother of three. We are an international family currently settled in the beautiful Willamette Valley in Oregon.

I am a food lover, fermenter, recipe developer and nutrition aficionado (food nerd). I have always been a spice addict and love ethnic foods, which are now largely off the table. My family has very simple tastes. My husband is Australian and grew up with a missionary family and a British expatriate mum so he loves simple food; as do our children.

Our family menu is constantly in transition as I learn to feed a family simple, nutritious meals whilst juggling the ever changing needs of my own autoimmune disease. Hashimoto’s is a real part of our life and we have to roll with the punches. Fermenting helps!

Culturing foods used to be the standard way to preserve foods before the industrial revolution. I love the unique flavors that emerge from such a simple process. Fermenting not only removes much of the toxins that plants try to throw at us but also loads them with probiotics! You always end up with less bitterness and more bite. I think that duo is wonderful and the added probiotics is something in which we can all benefit.

I sometimes post “gentle but normal” family friendly recipes with einkorn or gluten free grains but this blog is predominantly for cultured foods with an emphasis on paleo-friendly keto. Keto keeps my inflammation in check. I have moved away from nightshades and a host of other foods since my diagnosis with Hashimoto’s Disease so this is a journey.

I focus on fermented foods, AIP, keto, paleo, vegan, refined sugar-free, wheat-free, gluten-free and grain-free recipes.

We strive to live an organic, non-toxic lifestyle and so I will be posting here and there about that. Welcome and I hope you enjoy!
